Short answer
Nashua's 2025 total property tax rate is $16.83 per $1,000 of assessed value, set by the NH Department of Revenue Administration on November 3, 2025. That's about $1,683 a year, or about $140 a month, for each $100,000 of assessed value. On a home assessed at $400,000, property tax adds about $561 a month to the mortgage payment.
How does Nashua's rate break down?
| 2025, per $1,000 | Nashua |
|---|---|
| City | $7.19 |
| County | $1.01 |
| State education | $1.15 |
| Local education | $7.48 |
| Total | $16.83 |
The city portion is the largest part of Nashua's rate, about the same as its local school portion.
How does Nashua compare with nearby towns?
In 2025, Nashua's $16.83 was a little lower than Hudson ($17.11), higher than Litchfield ($14.20) and lower than Merrimack ($22.11), Hollis ($18.90) and Amherst ($23.98). How is property tax paid with a mortgage?
Most lenders collect it monthly through an escrow account and pay the city when bills come due. New Hampshire's tax year runs April 1 to March 31, and many towns bill twice a year, with the final bill using the new rate set in the fall. If the new rate is higher, your escrow payment may rise at the next yearly review. The tax bills and escrow guide explains how that works.
When will Nashua's 2026 rate be set?
The DRA sets each municipality's rate in the fall. Nashua's 2025 rate was set on November 3, 2025. Tom updates the site's town pages as the new rates come out.
