Londonderry, New Hampshire

New to Londonderry, NH: a newcomer's checklist

Just moved to Londonderry, or about to? Here are the first things to take care of, each with a link to the official town page. Town offices are at 268B Mammoth Road, and the Town Clerk/Tax Collector's office (open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) handles car registrations, property tax and sewer payments, dog licenses and voter registration. Checked October 30, 2026.

Get your NH driver's license and register your car

New Hampshire gives new residents 60 days after establishing residency to get an NH driver's license (RSA 263:35); licenses are handled by the NH Division of Motor Vehicles. To register a car you're bringing from another state, the Town Clerk asks for:

  • Proof of residency, such as your closing papers, a rental agreement, a utility bill or bank statement, or a pay stub or W-2 with your Londonderry address.
  • If you own the car, the original title (no copies) and your current registration.
  • If the car has a loan or lease, call the office first (603-432-1100, ext. 195).

Online renewals are for renewals only; new registrations and address, plate or ownership changes are done at the office.

Property tax bills

Londonderry's 2025 total rate is $14.47 per $1,000 of assessed value, and the state's 2025 ratio put assessments at about 94.6% of market value. Bills can be viewed and paid on the NH Tax Kiosk. If your mortgage company pays through escrow, forward any bill to them.

Trash and recycling

Londonderry has curbside pickup in town-provided carts: trash every week in the green cart, recycling every other week in the blue cart, out by 7 a.m. on your collection day. Recycling weeks go by the color of your cart's lid (blue or gray); the town posts a yearly calendar. Bulky items, yard waste, electronics, tires and scrap metal go to the Drop-Off Center at 13 Recovery Way during its seasonal hours (fees for some items; check or card only). Missed pickup: Waste Management, 1-800-972-4545.

Water and sewer

Sewer bills are paid through the Town Clerk/Tax Collector. Water service and private wells vary by street, so ask which a home has before you buy; the Public Works department can tell you about town projects such as water main extensions.

Dog license

Dogs 4 months and older must be licensed every year in the town where they live (RSA 466:1), through the Town Clerk's office, with a current rabies certificate.

Library card

Leach Library is at 276 Mammoth Road.

Registering to vote

Register with the Town Clerk's office, or with the Supervisors of the Checklist at the polls on Election Day. Bring proof of identity, age, citizenship and domicile.

Schools

Londonderry's public schools are run by the Londonderry School District; enrollment information is on the district's website.

Building or renovating

Your first year as a homeowner

  • Escrow: your first escrow review usually comes about a year after closing; a tax change can change the payment.
  • Abatement: if your assessment looks too high, the application is generally due by March 1 after the year's final tax bill.
  • Keep your closing documents: they speed up any future refinance.
