Short answer
No, for new work. The IRS says the Residential Clean Energy Credit (solar and similar systems) isn't available for property placed in service after December 31, 2025, and the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (heat pumps, insulation, windows, doors, energy audits) covered improvements made through December 31, 2025. In New Hampshire, NHSaves utility rebates are still the main place to look.
What if I did the work in 2025?
Property installed through December 31, 2025 can still be claimed on your 2025 return using Form 5695, within the IRS limits. The clean energy credit is nonrefundable, but unused amounts can carry forward to later years. Ask your tax preparer.
What help is left in New Hampshire?
NHSaves, the energy efficiency program run by New Hampshire's utilities, offers rebates on equipment such as heat pumps. Programs and amounts change, so check before you buy. Some towns also offer property tax exemptions for solar; ask your assessor. See the NH home heating guide and buying a home with solar panels.
Can I finance energy upgrades with my mortgage?
Yes, often. A renovation loan can roll upgrades into a purchase or refinance; see the renovation loan guide. Upgrades you make can also add to your home's tax basis; see which home improvement records to keep.
